Dr. Fred is joined today by five guests, collaborators on an art project called What Color is Love? This group of artists came together to produce a short video piece for the 2020 Virtual Year-End Vacation course offered by Landmark Education's Wisdom Division. The theme of this year's course is “Celebration of Humanity.” Ultimately, the team created a piece that incorporates song, poetry, dance, visual beauty, and an invitation to reflect on a provocative question.

Creative Team:

Alexandra Isaievych > visual artist, dancer
Lucy Pearce > poet
Mary Alterman > visual artist
Antoinette Cooper > poet, singer, photographer
Jeri Passaro > Designated Listener

Other contributors to the creative project:

Jurni Roco > dancer
Marty Alterman > video editor
Nestor Chornovus > video editor

Today’s show explores the project background and the team’s process of collaboration and co-creation. Dr. Fred and guests share insights on:

  • Collaborating from a place of “not knowing”

  • Unique discoveries made by the artists in the process

  • The joy (and discomfort) of generating and birthing this artistic contribution

  • Why shared discomfort can be experienced as beautiful

  • The relationship between privilege and comfort

  • Listening as an active communication skill

  • Dance as a “universal remedy”
